Google’s Self-Designed Tensor Chips will Power Its Next

Google’s Tensor G5 Chip Powers Pixel 10 Series with Advanced AI Capabilities
Google has introduced its fifth-generation custom silicon, the Tensor G5, featured in the newly launched Pixel 10 series. This chip represents a significant leap in performance and AI integration, setting a new standard for smartphone intelligence.
Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
Manufactured by TSMC using the advanced 3nm N3P process, the Tensor G5 boasts a 34% increase in CPU speed and a 60% improvement in AI processing over its predecessor, the Tensor G4. This enhancement translates to smoother multitasking, faster app launches, and improved overall responsiveness
On-Device AI with Gemini Nano
The Tensor G5 is the first chip to run Google’s latest Gemini Nano model, enabling advanced on-device AI capabilities. This integration allows for features like real-time voice translation during calls, proactive suggestions through Magic Cue, and enhanced photo editing with Pixel Studio. Notably, these AI functions operate entirely on the device, ensuring privacy and reducing reliance on cloud processing.
Advanced Imaging and Video Capabilities
The Pixel 10 series leverages the Tensor G5’s upgraded Image Signal Processor (ISP) to deliver superior photography and videography experiences. Users can capture 4K HDR videos at 60fps, utilize 100x Pro Res Zoom for detailed shots, and benefit from features like Auto Best Take and Auto Unblur for enhanced image quality.
Improved Battery Life and Thermal Management
Despite the increased performance, the Tensor G5 maintains efficient power consumption, contributing to the Pixel 10’s all-day battery life. The chip’s design also addresses previous thermal issues, allowing for higher clock speeds without significant heating, ensuring a comfortable user experience during extended use.
Pixel 10 Series Overview
The Pixel 10 series, launched on August 20, 2025, includes the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. All models are powered by the Tensor G5 chip and feature Android 16, offering users a seamless and intelligent smartphone experience.
