Meta Unveils AI-Powered Smart Glasses with Neural Wristband Control
At the 2025 Meta Connect conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced the Meta Ray-Ban Display, a pair of smart glasses designed to integrate seamlessly into daily life. Priced at $799, these glasses feature a discreet in-lens display on the right lens, allowing users to access information such as messages, navigation, and translations without the need to pull out a smartphone.
Accompanying the glasses is the Meta Neural Band, an EMG wristband that translates subtle finger movements into commands, enabling users to interact with the glasses through gestures like swiping and tapping. This combination aims to provide a more natural and intuitive user experience.
The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses are equipped with a 12MP camera, open-ear speakers, and a microphone, supporting features such as live captions, image sharing, and AI-generated content through Meta’s apps like WhatsApp and Instagram. With a battery life of up to six hours per charge and a collapsible case offering an additional 30 hours, these glasses are designed for all-day use.
Meta also introduced the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a sport-focused variant priced at $499, featuring enhanced durability, a central camera, and integration with fitness platforms like Garmin and Strava for real-time training stats and post-workout summaries.
These advancements reflect Meta’s commitment to integrating AI into wearable technology, aiming to enhance user interaction and accessibility. The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses are set to launch in the U.S. on September 30, 2025.
